Not my first time to Circuit De Spa Francorchamps, but never ceases to amaze me, the attack on all my senses, the shear scale and beauty of the Ardennes forest in which the ribbon of tarmac lies.
I always approach the circuit from La Source (Turn 1) looking down on one of the most iconic corners in motorsport, Eau Rouge & Raidillon. A down hill run before a quick left, then right hander that points you above the tree line.
Somehow the cars stick to the track before cresting over the left hander that carries on climbing up the Kemmel straight. Corner entry requires full commitment and some times even that isn't enough, as we found out during the weekend.
The World Endurance Championship is set for what can only be anticipated as an monumental 14 month season with 36 entires that'll travel across Europe, Asia and North America.
Set in the heart of the Ardennes forest, the first round got underway at Circuit De Spa Francorchamps. Nothing less than an iconic circuit loved by drivers and fans a like.
